The vision and concept for Connoisseur Travel was developed and started by Shaun Wingerter, the founder and president of the company. 

Her love for travel started as far back as she can remember.  During Shaun's adolescent years she was introduced to traveling abroad with her family.  Her father, who was from England, wanted the family to see Europe through his eyes.  At this time Shaun first experienced traveling off the beaten path, visiting villages and experiencing culture throughout Europe.  During her collegiate years, Shaun's travel desires led her to study abroad in Italy.   While studying abroad she focused her attention on art history and painting.  Still, her passion for people and culture thrived.  Her travels took her through hikes in the Swiss Alps to the Southern Regions of France. 

After graduating from college, Shaun followed her passion into the travel industry.  Ms. Wingerter joined Abercrombie & Kent specializing in Africa excursions.  During these years she traveled and experienced East and South African regions and game parks.   Shaun's responsibilities were to establish, manage and advise clients on custom African trips.  In early 2000, Shaun briefly left the travel industry to join IBM for a sales position.  It was during this career transition that she realized what she loved and missed most —Travel Explorations.  And so the concept of Connoisseur Travel was born.
